This study performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of 27 observational studies comparing systolic blood pressure and hypertension risk between individuals born preterm or with very low birth weight and those born full term. The meta-analysis included 10 studies and found that former preterm or very low birth weight individuals had higher systolic blood pressure than full term individuals, with a pooled estimate increase of 2.5 mmHg.
