What is Kant about?

Immanuel Kant established a rational basis for morality in his work Metaphysics of Morals. He argued that morality is determined by reason alone, not instincts. Kant proposed a categorical imperative that states one should act based on moral principles that can become universal laws. His framework rejects morality based on consequences or preferences, and asserts that moral actions are done out of duty. Kant aimed to establish a rational system of ethics independent of other systems like religion.
