This study compared the physical and mental health of victims from two different disasters in South Korea - Typhoon Nari in 2007 and an oil spill from the Hebei Spirit ship in 2007. Surveys were administered to 286 typhoon victims and 198 oil spill victims between July and August 2008. The oil spill victims reported poorer physical health outcomes and higher rates of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder compared to the typhoon victims.
