This study analyzed 46 patients who underwent surgery for gallbladder perforation (GBP) between 1997-2008. The authors found: 1) Advanced age, male sex, fever over 38°C, high white blood cell count, and pre-existing cardiovascular disease were significant risk factors for GBP. 2) Morbidity and mortality rates from GBP were 32.6% and 15.2%, respectively. 3) Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are key to managing GBP, but patients exhibiting the above risk factors should be monitored closely.
