Ibn Kathir was an influential Islamic scholar born in 701 H in Busra, Syria. He studied under many prominent scholars in Damascus and gained expertise in Hadith, jurisprudence, and Quranic exegesis. Some of his most influential works included a 14-volume history book called Al-Bidayah wan-Nihayah and his famous Quran commentary Tafsir Ibn Kathir.
