The square root is the reverse operation of squaring a number. Cubes are numbers multiplied by themselves three times, and cube roots are the reverse of cubes. Exponents simplify multiplication by representing repeated multiplication. The order of operations is BEDMAS: Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction.
