What is Granovetter about?
Mark Granovetter conducted a study in the late 1960s where he interviewed and surveyed hundreds of people in Boston about how they found their jobs. He discovered that over half found their jobs through personal contacts, but surprisingly these contacts were not usually close friends and family. Instead, most job information came through more distant acquaintances.
