A growing interest has developed over the last few years in thegut microbiome, and this colony called "microbiota" influences the state of human health. As deeply highlighted in literature microbiota is a dynamic ecosystem composed of more than 100 trillion microorganisms, that regulates and influences numerous functions of body's immune system and maintenance of the health state [1]. During the last few years, there was a growing interest in alterations in the composition of the microbiota for their association with numerous systemic pathologies, such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, or Ankylosing Spondylitis [2]. Glaucoma is defined as a progressive irreversible optic neuropathy related to damage to retinal ganglion cells (RGCs).
