Piotr -udani hesud "Dumuzi's Dream" has been well-known for many years; 2017 marked the 45th anniversary of Bendt Alster's foundational composite edition. 1 Since then, Alster and others have added substantial new sources in a series of articles, including the almost-complete, micrographic tablet in the British Museum which prompted this paper. 2 The Electronic Text Corpus of Sumerian Literature (ETCSL) published an online composite and translation \* The following text is a lightly revised version of my contribution to the session in honor of Piotr Michalowski at the 223rd meeting of the American Oriental Society in Portland, Oregon, March 15-18, 2013. It is presented here partly as a record of that event, and partly as a preliminary presentation of ideas in advance of their future fuller elaboration. This fuller elaboration must await the completion of the new edition, with textual matrix, which is in preparation by the author.
