About this document
MPI Test for Detecting Metal Defects by Abu Akhtar Aira Althaf is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Magnetic particle inspection is a non-destructive testing method that uses magnetic fields to detect surface or near-surface defects in ferrous metals. A magnetic field is applied to the material, revealing flaws by distorting the magnetic flow; iron particles coated with fluorescent dye are then attracted to and build up at the edges of defects, making the flaws visible under ultraviolet light. The process is shown detecting fatigue cracks around an airplane crankshaft.
