What is Sexual Behavior of Rural College Youth about?

This study examined the sexual behaviors and attitudes of rural college youth in India. Surveys were conducted with 1500 students aged 15-24 (800 male, 700 female) at colleges in Thane district of Maharashtra. The study found that penetrative sexual experience was much higher among boys (29.8%) than girls (4.9%). Around 11% of boys and 1% of girls reported penetrative vaginal, oral, or anal sex, and around half of those did not use condoms. Homosexual experience was reported by 11% of boys and 3% of girls.
