What is Freud about?

Freud proposed that personality develops through 5 psychosexual stages from birth to adulthood. Each stage focuses on pleasure from a different part of the body. How conflicts are resolved at each stage determines personality traits. The stages are oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital. Fixation at a stage due to trauma can result in maladaptive behaviors like smoking or over-cleanliness as an adult.
