Traffic Police in Costa Rica are warning of an increase in motorcycle deaths in the first five months of 2014, with 53 deaths representing a 56% rise from the same period the year before. The director of Traffic Police attributed many of these accidents to motorcyclists running red lights and not wearing helmets. He announced that motorcycle safety would be a priority in coming months and urged bikers to take more precautions such as wearing helmets and not overloading their motorcycles.
