This study examined the effect of adding petroleum jelly on the hardness of zinc oxide eugenol dental cement. Three groups of cement specimens were tested: a control group with just zinc oxide and eugenol (group A), and two test groups with 1.25% (group B) and 2.5% (group C) petroleum jelly added. Brinell hardness tests found that the control group was significantly harder than both test groups. Adding 1.25% petroleum jelly reduced hardness by 25% compared to the control, while 2.5% reduced hardness by 50%.
