This folk tale is about an old woman named Aunty Misery who lives alone caring for her pear tree. She makes a wish to a traveling sorcerer that anyone who climbs her tree cannot come back down until she allows it. When children steal her pears and climb the tree, they become stuck. Later, when Death comes for Aunty Misery, she tricks him into climbing the tree so he also becomes stuck. As a result of Death being trapped, no one in the world can die. Aunty Misery eventually makes a deal with Death to set him
