What is Electropulsing Effects on 316L Steel Precipitates about?
Electrical pulsing during heat treatment of 316L stainless steel was found to significantly reduce the number and size of precipitates that formed. Samples treated with electropulsing had considerably fewer and smaller precipitate particles compared to untreated samples. This effect was not due to Joule heating from the electric current, but rather was attributed to the current inducing changes in the thermodynamic stability of phases and accelerating mass diffusion, helping to dissolve precipitates.
