What is Broiler Chicken Performance on Litter Types about?

This study investigates the performance and meat quality of broiler chickens raised on two types of litter materials (wood shavings and rice straw) and at two stocking densities (24 and 30 kg/m2). Results indicate that a density of 24 kg/m2 enhances feed consumption and weight gain, while wood shavings improve feed conversion compared to rice straw. Overall, the best performance for broiler chickens was observed at a density of 24 kg/m2 using wood shavings as bedding.
