Analysis of Response Time Characteristics of a Real Computer by Heterogeneous Task Bursty-arrival Models by Mitsuyoshi Kitamura; Chugo Fujihashi is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.
What is Analysis of Response Time Characteristics of a Real Computer by Heterogeneous Task Bursty-arrival Models about?
This article considers the case where the task arrival process is bursty and the service time is heterogeneous (as is seen in general in the ordinary computer load), and proposes the heterogeneous task bursty-arrival model as a model for analyzing the computer response time characteristics. As to bursty arrival, two models are considered: the time-varying arrival rate type and the mixed arrival interval type. As to the service time, the hyperexponential distribution is applied. It is shown as a result of analysis that the increase of the response time due to the burstiness can be suppressed in the time-sharing processing (TSS), when the service time includes a large variance depending on the task. The property is also verified in the record of actual measurement.
