About this document
Beams and Flexural Members Overview by kenjam89mb is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Beams are structural members primarily subjected to transverse/flexural loads. Common beam types include stringers, floor beams, and spandrels. Standard beam cross sections include W, S, I, channels, tees and angles. Beams may experience some axial loading effects but are generally treated as flexural members only. However, if the axial load is substantial, the member is called a beam-column, which combines both flexural and axial load resistance.
