What is Nehru about?

N Jawaharlal Nehru viewed socialism positively and sought to integrate it with Indian nationalism in the anti-colonial struggle. He and other Congress socialist thinkers like Jaya Prakash Narayan and Acharya Narendra Dev aimed to synthesize socialism and nationalism to use socialism to further the anti-colonial cause. Nehru believed that socialist policies were needed to reduce socio-economic inequalities in India and build an egalitarian and self-reliant nation.
