What is Shear-Lag Effect in Composite Box Girders about?

This paper presents a semi-analytical method for estimating the shear-lag effect in composite box girder bridges with corrugated steel webs. The shear-lag effect, which affects stress distribution in wide box girders, is analyzed using generalized displacement functions and finite difference methods. Results indicate that the proposed method effectively characterizes the shear-lag effect, which inversely correlates with the effective span length of the bridge.
