What is Heavy Metal Removal Using Waste Adsorbents about?
This study investigated the removal of five heavy metals (Pb, Cu, Cd, Cr, Zn) from water using two low-cost industrial byproducts, blast furnace slag and fly ash, via adsorption. Batch experiments showed that both adsorbents were effective at removing the metals, with maximum adsorption capacities of 3.4-5.2 mg/g for blast furnace slag and 3.4-5.1 mg/g for fly ash. Fixed-bed column tests on a furnace slag/sand mixture found lower capacities of 1.1-2.1 mg/g for a mixed metal system compared to 3.4-3.5 mg/g f
