This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy of monthly post-discharge malaria chemoprevention in children recovering from severe anaemia in malaria-endemic Africa. The analysis included three randomized controlled trials with 3663 children and found a 77% reduction in mortality and a 55% reduction in readmissions associated with the intervention compared to placebo.
