What is Heat Pumps for Energy Efficiency and Environmental Progress about?

In both domestic and commercial applications, the performance of boilers is strongly influenced by the boiler 'environment': the control system, the building, the outdoor climate, the heat delivering network (radiators, convectors) and the climatic behaviour of the occupants. Recently, the Department of Heat and Refrigeration Technology TNO has developed a test rig to 'emulate' this environment around the boiler. The main target of this test rig is to determine the (seasonal) performance of boiler systems under realistic dynamic conditions and to determine the influence of environmental parameters. This advanced test rig is indicated as 'Emulator'. As known, the performance of bivalent heat pump/boiler systems and monovalent heat pump systems is even stronger influenced by the boiler system environment, especially by the temperature level of the heat delivering system (condenser) and the temperature level of in general outdoor climate dependent heat source (evaporator). For this reason, the Department of Heat and Refrigeration Technology TNO is extending this Emulator for heat pump tests. This extended Emulator fits water/water, air/water, water/air and air/air heat pumps up to 50
