As someone who aims to combine elements from several areas of philosophy and the study of religions in my work, I am fortunate to be part of the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science at the University of Leeds. The School offers a fertile environment for sustained engagement both within and across disciplines, and I have benefited especially from my involvement with the School's Centre for Philosophy of Religion and Centre for Religion and Public Life, each of which facilitates ongoing discussions on themes relevant to my research. Much of the work on this book was carried out during a period of study leave from September 2013 to June 2014. I am grateful both to my School and to the University of Leeds' Faculty of Arts for granting me that valuable research time.
