What is Lovelace about?

Richard Lovelace was a 17th century Cavalier poet who was imprisoned for supporting King Charles I. While in prison, he wrote the poem "To Althea, From Prison" for his fiancée Lucy Sacherevell. In the poem, Lovelace expresses that although physically in prison, his love for Althea gives him a sense of freedom and that true liberty is found in the mind rather than being constrained by walls or bars.
