What is The Durham Light Infantry: (the 68th and 106th Regiments of Foot) (Famous regiments) about?
Regimentet oprettedes 1756 som 23. fodregiment "The Royal Welsh Fusiliers". Ved Cardwell's hærreform tilførtes regimentet det 106. fodregiment, da alle regimenter dengang skulle have to bataljoner, hvoraf den ene skulle gøre tjeneste i udlandet. Under 1. I 1968 blev det forenet med hele tre andre regimenter: "The Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry", "The King's Shropshire Light Infantry" og "The King's Own Yorkshire Infantry", som derved dannede "The Light Infantry Regiment"
