What is Impacts of Socially Assistive Robots on Improving the Quality of Life in Children with Autism about?
Synopsis Since 2000, it has been widely shown that using social robots in autism treatment can significantly increase the impact of interventions for children with autism. In such studies, the impact of the robot-assisted games/scenarios on children's performance and behavioral skills are investigated over time using different assessment tools. Improvement in imitation, joint attention, communication and social interaction skills of participants during robotic interventions are the most frequent findings of previous studies. In this chapter, I present some of our recent findings on the clinical application of two social robots as medical assistants in the education/rehabilitation of children with autism.
