This study generated single and double deletion mutants of creA and creB genes in Aspergillus oryzae. The α-amylase production of these mutants was compared to the wild type strain under various culture conditions. The double deletion mutant showed over 10-fold higher α-amylase activity compared to the wild type in medium containing 5% starch. Deletion of creA and creB resulted in improved production of secretory enzymes like α-amylase in A. oryzae.
