What is Rizal about?

Rizal arrived in Japan in February 1888 and stayed for 45 days. During his time there, he studied the Japanese language and culture. He developed a romantic relationship with a Japanese woman, O-Sei-San, who helped him learn about Japan. Rizal was deeply saddened when he had to depart Japan in April 1888 to continue his voyage, leaving behind his beloved O-Sei-San. O-Sei-San later married but always grieved the loss of Rizal, while Rizal considered his time with O-Sei-San the happiest of his life.
