What is Hostel Subsidy Clarification for Employees about?

Central government employees are entitled to a hostel subsidy of Rs. 3000 per month for up to two children under the new CEA scheme if the children live in a hostel of a school away from where the employee is posted or resides. Some authorities had denied claims if transfer was not the reason for choosing a hostel school, but not for reasons of better education. However, DOPT has clarified in a 2010 letter that the hostel subsidy applies irrespective of the reason for admission to a residential school away
