Established cognitive multimedia learning theories advocate for the instructional implementation of visuals (e.g., Mayer, 2009;Paivio, 1986), claiming that using visuals typically yields more effective learning outcomes (Aisami, 2015). Moreover, most learners indicate preferences of learning with visuals (Kuri & Truzzi, 2002). Because of the imbalanced focus on visual learning materials, students with visual impairments are often at a disadvantage. Evolving digital environments need to keep pace and offer equivalent learning opportunities to visually impaired individuals. Therefore, the existence of assistive technologies is fundamental to allow for diversity and inclusion. Traditional strategies to overcome barriers are use of colorblind friendly cues, such as texture, written labels, other indicators besides color alone, audio cues, keyboard-only commands, haptic and auditory white cane controller, ability to zoom and focus on one element at a time, and environment descriptions with both audio and
