What is Elastic Properties of Thermosets in Glassy State about?
ENSAM 15 1 Bd dc I'H6pital750 13 PARIS -FRANCE ELASTIC PROPERTIES OF THERMOSETS IN GLASSY STATE by J. VERDU a i d A. TCHARKHTCIII SUMMARY The Young's iiiodulus E and Poisson's ratio v of various thermosets, including G aniine crosslinked epoxies. one anhydride crosslinked epoxy, one styrene crosslinked polyester and one styrcnc crosslinked vinylester. were deterniined from tensile tests in the 220-393 K temperature range and l.G7104 -1.6710~\* s .I strain rate range. The bulk (B) a i d shear (G) modulus were calculated from E and v. Some observations about structure-property relationships can be derived from these data and their comparison with corresponding ones relative to linear polymers. B appears to depend essentially of the cohesion and packing density and does not depend, practically, of temperature and strain rate. In contrast, G depends sharply of the local niolecular mobility, this latter being affected by an antiplasticization mechanism. The Poisson's ratio seems to be systeiiiatically higher Tor thermosets than for linear polymers.
