This document analyzes the word stress production of Madurese male and female students learning English as a foreign language. It finds that the Madurese dialect has a positive influence on stress placement in two-syllable words. Male and female students performed similarly in stressing three to four syllable words, but incorrectly stressed five to six syllable words. Gender did not significantly influence pronunciation or stress placement.
