About this document
Double-Pipe Heat Exchanger Design by jamie is a document available to read on EtoBox.
A double pipe heat exchanger must cool 6,900 lb/hr of 26 API lube oil from 450°F to 350°F using 72,500 lb/hr of 34 API crude oil heated from 300°F to 310°F. A fouling factor of 0.003 is provided for each stream, with an allowable 10 psi pressure drop. 20-foot hairpin pipes of 3x2 inches are available. The number of hairpins and their arrangement must be determined using heat balance calculations and caloric temperature equations.
