A Fast Non-ferric Kicker for the Muon (G−2) Experiment by Efstratios Efstathiadis; Y.Y Lee; Jian-lin Mi; Chien Pai; Jonathan M Paley; B.Lee Roberts; Ralph T Sanders; Yannis K Semertzidis; David S Warburton is a Physics and Astronomy article available to read on EtoBox.
What is A Fast Non-ferric Kicker for the Muon (G−2) Experiment about?
A fast, non-ferric kicker has been designed, built and installed in the muon ðg À 2Þ experiment at the Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron. A current pulse of 4200 A peak, and base-width of 400 ns; is passed in opposite directions through parallel plates 10 cm apart on either side of the muon storage region in the ðg À 2Þ storage ring. A field integral of 0:1 Tm was achieved, which kicks the 3:09 GeV=c muon beam by about 10 mrad: This kick is achieved by employing three identical 1:76 m long sections, each powered by a separate pulse-forming network. The design and performance of the kicker is presented.
