What is EBB about?

The poem describes the actions of the god Pan by a river. In the first stanza, Pan is disturbing the peaceful river by splashing in the reeds and breaking the lilies floating on the surface. In the second stanza, Pan tears a reed from the riverbed, muddying the water and killing the lilies. In the third stanza, Pan sits on the shore and carves the reed into a musical instrument with his steel tool. The poem explores the destruction of nature by Pan and the creation of art from nature.
