What is Understanding Narratology and Metafiction about?

Narratology is the structuralist study of narrative and literary texts. It examines the function, conventions, symbols, form, structure, history and evolution of narratives. Without understanding these elements, readers cannot fully comprehend narrative texts. Metafiction is a literary style where the narrator or characters are aware they are fictional. It highlights the difference between reality and the fictional world in a novel. Metafiction prevents reader expectations to reveal truths. Characteristics
