This study investigated post-operative MRSA infections in 577 patients who underwent head and neck surgery between 2008-2013. The study found that 24 patients (4.2%) developed MRSA surgical site infections. Patients with a history of chemotherapy, immunosuppression, or recent hospital exposure were at higher risk of MRSA infection. MRSA infections resulted in significantly longer postoperative hospital stays compared to non-MRSA infections.
