What is Little Island: NYC about?

Little Island is a 2.4-acre public park located on Pier 55 in the Hudson River in New York City. It was designed by Heatherwick Studio and landscape architect Signe Nielsen to provide park and performance space. The park consists of 132 precast concrete pot-like structures suspended over the river on 280 pilings, inspired by ice formations around pilings. Little Island opened in 2021 and aims to bring art, nature and community to New Yorkers and was made possible by a donation from billionaire Barry Diller
