Pediatric Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Overview by selvia emilya is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a rare tumor arising from the epithelium of the nasopharynx, accounting for 1% of childhood malignancies. While most adult nasopharyngeal cancers are carcinomas, only 35-50% of childhood cases are carcinomas, with the rest being rhabdomyosarcomas or lymphomas. The Epstein-Barr virus is associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma and can infect epithelial cells, transforming them malignantly. Incidence varies geographically from 1 in 100,000 children annually in North America to 8-25
