What is Errata about?
In the above-mentioned article, an error occurred in the Methods and Materials section (page 662). The SEER 9 Public Use Registry was quoted as the data source; this should have been the November 2003 submission of the SEER 11 Registry + AK Public-Use data. A second error occurred in Table , in which the 95% confidence intervals corresponding to the period between the diagnosis of prostate and rectal cancer were mislabeled as ranges. Further errors were made with the selection of the baseline numbers of patients who did not sustain rectal cancer and who were not treated with surgery, and with the collation of the second primary rectal cancers to the baseline entries. Two revised tables are supplied here to correct the major errors: The corrected analysis adds 83,588 prostatic cancer patients to the two nonsurgical cohorts. The crude percentages of subsequent rectal cancers now appear more similar among the three cohorts than in the above-mentioned article, with the irradiated cohort exhibiting the highest frequency (Table ).
