What is Urinary Catheterization Guide: Steps & Types about?

Urinary catheterization involves inserting a hollow tube (catheter) into the urethra and bladder to drain urine. It must be done sterilely to avoid infection. For males, the genitalia are cleaned, gloves are worn, and the catheter is gently inserted into the urethra until urine flows and can be collected. For females, the labia are spread and the area is swabbed before gently inserting the catheter. To remove the catheter, the balloon is deflated and the catheter is slowly withdrawn.
