This study investigated the incidence and species of Malassezia involved in infantile seborrheic dermatitis (ISD) in 60 infants under 2 years old based on the internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) region of ribosomal DNA sequencing. Malassezia furfur was the most common species isolated from skin samples of infants with ISD, found in 12 of 15 samples that cultured positively.
