The integration of renewable energy sources (RESs) to the distribution network is the major concern for the development of a microgrid (MG). This work deals with a multiple photovoltaic (PV) arrays- battery based microgrid synchronised to a three phase distribution network. The two PV arrays by separate maximum power point (MPP) tracking method are utilized to achieve peak power. The first PV array is linked to the DC link of main VSC (Voltage Source Converter) through a boost converter i.e. double stage structure. The battery is directly connected at the DC link of the main voltage source converter. The second PV array is connected in a single stage configuration at ancillary VSC's DC link. VSCs parallel connection at point of common coupling (PCC), wherein separate loads are also integrated enhance the MG rating. The main VSC performs via the current control algorithm in the grid intertie mode, whereas the voltage control technique is utilized for autonomous mode of operation. The power electronics switch confirms the main VSC's seamless mode shifting operation.
