What is Similarity Rules in High-Speed Aerodynamics about?

Similarity rules relate the pressure distributions on bodies of different shapes but in the same family to each other through a single non-dimensional parameter. For supersonic potential flows over slender bodies, the pressure coefficient Cp at a point is a function of the thickness ratio δ and the freestream Mach number M∞. Several similarity rules are described, including the Prandtl-Glauert rule where Cp increases with M∞ according to (1 - M∞2)-1/2, and the Göthet rule where Cp increases as (1 - M∞2)-1.
