Irradiation of M(CO)e (M = MO, W) and Sn[N-(SiMes),], in hexane with W light results in car-bony1 substitution to form both M(CO),Sn[N(Si-MeshI and M(CO)4(Sn[N(SiMes)2]2)2 complexes. The M(CO)& species present the first examples in which both cis and tram isomers have been observed upon substitution of bulky divalent main group IV ligands. The highly air-sensitive W(CO)sL and W(CO),Lr complexes have been isolated.
