This study examined the periodontal treatment needs of 330 secondary school students in Enugu, Nigeria aged 12-18 using the Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs (CPITN). The researchers found that over half of students presented with bleeding gums and nearly a third had calculus. Periodontal disease increased in severity with age.
