About this document
Labov by lilamy84 is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Labov identified six categories that typically structure oral narratives: abstract, orientation, complicating action, resolution, evaluation, and coda. The abstract introduces the narrative, the orientation provides context, complicating action is the main body, resolution concludes the events, evaluation highlights attitudes, and the coda signals the narrative is complete. While not all narratives contain every category, this framework can be applied to analyze spoken storytelling.
