## New generation reactor technologies within the framework of Generation IV International Forum Generation IV International Forum (GIF) was arranged at the initiative of the USA with the declared aim to organize international cooperation between the countries developing nuclear power in the area of R&D works carried out to substantiate the designs of generation IV nuclear power systems and exchange of the obtained results. De facto it was the mechanism for control on the part of the USA and appropriation of innovative developments from other countries. To a certain extent GIF was the response to INPRO project arranged at the initiative of the Russian Federation and initially aimed at practical cooperation in acquisition of the new technology platform based on reactors with inherent safety and the CNFC. More than 10 countries joined the project. Under the prohibition for NPP SNF processing this meant falling out of the global promising development trends for the USA.
